The Mac Carkhuff Foundation is a non-profit organization that was formed in the fall of 2005 in remembrance of Mac Carkhuff who was killed in a motorcycle accident on August 27, 2005.  The Foundation uses donations from an annual golf event and silent auction to fund a Brainerd Scholar Athlete Scholarship and various other charities in the Brainerd, MN area.

About the Mac Carkhuff Foundation

Mac was a Brainerd native that graduated from Brainerd High School as a Scholar Athlete in 1993.  He continued to play college football in Bozeman, MT and Winona State, MN.  He never stopped learning, as he continued with his formal education at St. Cloud State University, MN to earn his Master's in Criminal Justice.  Mac was passionate about his career in Power Transmission and Distribution at Siemens and CellNet;  yet his passion for making time for family and friends was just as strong.  He had an insatiable desire to ride motorcycle, snowmobile, travel, and spend time with family and friends.  His motto was, "I've never had a bad day, some days are just better than others."  He left behind many family, friends, his sweetheart Suzie, and his dog Gus.  As a result of our loss, we put together this foundation in order to spread Mac's positive energy to the causes he felt so strongly about.

The MCF has taken Mac's passion for life and past experiences to help advance other organizations.  Each year a golf benefit is held in Mac's name.  The money raised from this event goes into the foundation and is used to fund a Brainerd High School Scholar Athlete Scholarship. For eight years we have been able to award a student $1000 towards a college of their choice.  A sizeable donation has also been made to the Brainerd Kinship Organization and the H.A.R.T. (Heartland Animal Rescue Team) over the years.  Kinship is a youth mentoring program that matches a child with an adult family, in which Mac was one of the first kids to be matched and a part of this program in Brainerd.  In fact, Mac continued his relationship with his mentor and his family until Mac's death...a mentoring relationship that lasted 20 years!

The MCF members hope that even if you didn't know Mac, you would be able to make a donation or join us in a fun day of golf, food and beverage!
